Re-Inventing Your Jewelry

Posted on: February 22, 2017

Have you ever asked the question, “What am I going to do with this old jewelry?”

Sometimes when looking through our own fine jewelry collection or at fine jewelry we have inherited, we may find pieces that are no longer in good condition, usable, or attractive to us. With just a little thinking outside the box, new ideas and ways to re-cycle, reuse or re-invent elements of a piece can freshen and update your collection.

This customer’s gold watch bracelet had been mended, soldered, and repaired several times in the past and, once again, sustained more cracked and broken links. Rather than continue spending money on more repairs to a problematic bracelet that keeps breaking, we suggested some changes to brighten up and modernize the look of the watch.

The watch movement, the outdated diamond leaf motif embellishments, and the damaged bracelet were first removed. We were then able to locate another estate watch bracelet to use for the repair. Now the watch has a beautiful, newer, and brighter bracelet with a look that can be worn for every day or a dressed up evening out. The customer was also able to reuse the removed diamonds in another piece of jewelry.
