  • Engagement Ring, Wedding Ring, & New Mother’s Gift – All From Jessop’s!

Congratulations to Ken & Kerry Frazier on the arrival of baby William. We are thrilled for them… and delighted with their announcement photos which show an adorable baby and a Mom adorned with jewelry from Jessop’s in San Diego.

Kerry’s diamond is a cushion cut, chosen carefully by Ken. The engagement ring setting features diamonds on the band, as does the matching wedding ring. Now just a few short years later, with a new baby coming, Ken thought of Jessop’s. He saw the necklace on the website and knew the circle-of-life design would be perfect for the occasion.

    Vintage Jessop's ClockVintage Jessop's Clock

Time will be up soon for the Jessop’s street clock’s current location. Even though Jessop Jewelers is located at 401 West C St, ground floor of the Emerald Plaza, the legendary clock has been several blocks away, on display in Horton Plaza since that center was built. Now it will make its fourth move in 100 years. The question of where it will go is up in the air.

  • Sparkling Antique Diamond Makes Miley Happy. Vintage Diamonds At Jessop’s Will Make You Happy Too!

At Jessop’s we love antique and vintage jewelry… and the terrific selection in the downtown San Diego store beautifully backs up that claim!

The recent choice of yellow gold floral design with an antique 3.50carat cushion cut diamond as the center has made Miley Cyrus a happy bride-to-be. The center stone has a special history — the cushion-cut diamond dates back to the late 19th century. “It was hand-cut around 1880 or 1890 and it’s unique and in its original form,” Neil Lane told People. “At that time no two diamonds were alike, as they were all hand-cut, so it’s fascinating to look at because it hasn’t been re-cut to look contemporary over the years. I find that really romantic.” As for the setting, which features smaller diamonds to accent the large main stone: “The light flashes and sparkles no matter where Miley moves her hand.”

  • Faberge Honored By Google. Could Jessop’s Be Next?

Google, which changes the logo on its homepage from time to time to so-called “Google Doodles,” honored the birth of famed Russian jeweler Peter Carl Fabergé on May 30 by representing the letters in its name as Fabergé eggs. Carl Fabergé, born May 30, 1846, was the creator of the famous bejeweled eggs, and many opulent treasures in gold, gemstones and enamel, his work is known the world over.

  • Jessop’s Shares Details On Breathtaking Diamond.

When San Diego dreams of diamonds most cast their mind to Jessop’s. When Marie de Medici was married to Henri IV she didn’t have Jessop’s to turn to but she did have the King of France to shop for her! The gift she wanted was the Beau Sancy diamond, a 34.98ct pear shape, and the King obliged.

In 1610, a day after her coronation – for which the large pear-shaped gem was set atop her crown – Henri was assassinated, leaving her and six children under the age of nine.

And so began the Beau Sancy’s 400-year journey through European royal history as it passed between warring and peacemaking monarchs in France, England, the Dutch Republic and Prussia.
